We've never sent a final invoice higher than the quote without a signed change order. Not once in 17 years. Here's a real one — client info redacted — so you can see the line items yourself.
Change orders exist for one reason: the client changes scope. If we missed something in our measurement, we eat the cost. That's been our policy since day one and it's in every contract.
